The baroque program will gather the music of famous composers in the sound of string instruments from the 17th to 18th centuries. The program features music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and Georg Friedrich Handel performed by an ensemble whose sound is connected to the works of Italian masters from the 17th to 18th centuries. The Stradivari Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre plays on string instruments by Niccolò Amati, Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri, Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, and Matteo Goffriller. Each instrument has its own biography, and together they provide a vibrant concert voice - warm, flexible, rich in shades and details. The ensemble was founded in 2009 at the initiative of Valery Gergiev. It currently consists of more than 20 musicians. Since 2013, the ensemble has been led by violinist Lorenz Nasturica-Gershovich. The concert also features Cvetana Omelchuk, mezzo-soprano.
