About

In Petrikirche, popular baroque masterpieces will be performed in organ arrangements. The program is accompanied by video installations of Vincent van Gogh's paintings. The program will feature popular classics - masterpieces written by various composers at different times that have become some of the most performed in the world. The evening will open with works from the baroque era. The baroque era began in Europe in the late 16th century and ended, in terms of music, in 1750 - with the death of Johann Sebastian Bach. Among the most outstanding composers of the era, besides Bach, are Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Friedrich Handel. Their famous compositions will be performed at the concert. Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' is one of the most popular classical works in the world. There are numerous arrangements of the cycle for different instruments; this time it will be performed on the organ. Handel's 'Water Music' was first performed in the summer of 1717 on the Thames during a boat ride of King George I of England, accompanied by a boat with fifty musicians. The music pleased the monarch so much that the concert was repeated three times that day, and the residents of London actively participated in the river rides and festivities. The program will be performed by soprano Tatyana Lanskaya and organist Olga Kotlyarova. To find out more details, click the 'Buy Ticket' button.
