An evening dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev will combine the intense energy of his Second Symphony with the rare composition of Bartók's Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion, and Orchestra. This program promises a dense, powerful sound, sharp rhythmic patterns, and a strong sense of music that acts directly, boldly, and uncompromisingly. The evening is built around music that captivates with the power of thought, rhythm, and sound. The program, dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev, is assembled to showcase the scale and boldness of the musical language of the first half of the 20th century. The focus is on Prokofiev's Second Symphony, one of his most intense works, alongside Bartók's Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion, and Orchestra, which combines clear structure, motor energy, and a rare timbral composition. The evening opens with Bartók. The very choice of the piece sets a high degree of interest: two pianos, percussion, and orchestra-a combination that immediately promises an unusual sound and complex internal dramaturgy. Here, rhythm, precision of interaction, and balance between the soloists and the orchestra are especially important. For the listener, this is music of tense movement, where both strict logic and almost physical energy of sound can be heard. Sergey Davydchenko and Angel Wong take on the piano parts, making the lively dialogue between the two instruments-elastic, sharp, and at times almost competitive-the main focus. In the second part, Prokofiev's Second Symphony will be performed. It is often perceived as one of the composer's most radical symphonic statements. In this work, there is almost no familiar softness or melodic comfort-instead, the music moves in large blocks, pressing with the mass of the orchestra and maintaining constant tension. For the audience, this is a rare opportunity to hear Prokofiev in a hard and powerful perspective. The program is performed by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E. F.
