Members of the book club will discuss Donna Haraway's essay on taxidermy. The discussion will center around the history of the African Hall at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Here, there is a huge diorama with taxidermied animals, created in the early 20th century with the participation of taxidermist Carl Akeley. It will serve as a starting point for a conversation about who has the right to look at, describe, preserve, and transform a living being into a museum representation. The mediator will be Natalia Dorogina - an artist and designer of museum and exhibition spaces. Find other events in Moscow on KudaGo.
