The book club takes place as a parallel program to the exhibition "Chimera" and continues the conversation about the body and materiality. Slime, mud, dirt, swamp, sticky and viscous substances are usually pushed to the periphery of attention: they are hard to describe, unpleasant to touch, and difficult to turn into a stable form. But it is precisely these that Ben Woodard discusses in his work, suggesting a serious consideration of what has long been regarded as inferior, shapeless, and almost meaningless. Woodard poses the question: what if form is merely a habit of our thinking? What if amorphous, creeping, changing matter is closer to the foundation of life than stable bodies and clear boundaries? Club participants will discuss how the philosopher's ideas change perspectives on notions of form, the living and the non-living.
