About

The silent comedy by Yuri Zhelyabuzhsky will transport viewers to Soviet Moscow of the 1920s. The sounds of the NEP can still be heard on screen, signs argue with the new urban reality, and Moscow seems both familiar and foreign at the same time. All of this is present in Yuri Zhelyabuzhsky's silent film - light, ironic, and attentive to the details of urban life. The main character, Zina Vesenina, a street vendor, is courted by a clerk and a cameraman, and then an American businessman appears and turns the entire course of events upside down. The film reflects the new fashion, advertising culture, discussions about cinema within cinema itself, and the energy of the capital that is quickly restructuring after the revolutionary years. The film features Yulia Solntseva, Igor Ilyinsky, Nikolai Tsereteli, Mikhail Zharov, and other artists. After the screening, the audience will discuss the film with Tatiana Nedostupova, producer of the creative association "ChP."
