The Parisian edition of the ballet "The Nutcracker" directed by Nureyev is not just a Christmas fairy tale, but a visually rich, multilayered statement. In the Grand Hall of the "Illuzion" cinema, the Parisian version of "The Nutcracker," staged by Rudolf Nureyev in 1985, will be shown. This ballet became the quintessence of the choreographer's aspirations to move away from clichéd festive cuteness and convey the true spirit of Hoffmann's tale - disturbing, fantastic, and piercingly honest. In this interpretation, the well-known story appears in a new, more mature, and multilayered light. His solutions refer to Hoffmann's grotesques and shadow archetypes, yet remain visually appealing. The work with color, light, and details resembles theatrical painting more than classical ballet scenography. The lead role is performed by Lyudmila Konovalova, her stage partner is Vladimir Shishov. Both dancers are known for their delicate approach to the role and filigree technique. The musical accompaniment is provided by the Vienna State Opera under the direction of Paul Connolly.
