A Christmas fairy tale in luxurious decorations, stars of the world stage, and touching roles of young artists - the ballet "The Nutcracker" from Dresden comes to life on screen. Comfort, magic, and the enchantment of classics in a new interpretation with the live participation of children and a sprinkle of European fairground spirit. Christmas Eve is a time for wonders, fairy tales, and magic, and one of the most beloved ballet works in the world returns to the screen once again. As part of the TheatreHD project, a new production of "The Nutcracker" will be shown at the Yeltsin Center cinema - one of the brightest versions of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet, brought to life on the stage of the Dresden Opera. The choreography by Aaron Watkin and Jason Beechey fills the classic story with new colors while remaining true to its spirit and musical fabric. This performance combines the professionalism of world ballet stars with the touching sincerity of children - young artists from the ballet school take an active part in the production, making it especially heartfelt and lively. On screen, the classic story unfolds about a girl who receives a toy Nutcracker for the holiday and then finds herself drawn into a captivating journey through a magical world. The set design of the performance is full of winter fairy-tale aesthetics inspired by European Christmas traditions. The scenes with festive markets and decorations reminiscent of real Dresden markets are particularly expressive - it is said that the image of the Nutcracker first appeared there, according to legend. The cast includes both stage stars like Jiri Bubenicek and Yumiko Takeshima, as well as young talents, which adds a special warmth to the production. The ballet was created in 2025, and its duration is 95 minutes. This is an optimal format for family viewing: children won't get tired, and adults will have time to enjoy a full theatrical experience on the big screen. "The Nutcracker" from the Dresden Opera is an opportunity to rediscover the classics, to experience a familiar story with new emotions, and to spend an evening in the company of beautiful music, ballet, and a true fairy tale. We especially recommend this event for families.
