Autumn in the city brings not only leaves and cool winds but also picturesque moments captured in cinema. This season, the SMART Library named after Anna Akhmatova announces the opening of a new lecture series "Cinema for Autumn". At the event, everyone interested will see several films about Moscow. At the next meeting, viewers will watch Edmond Keosayan's film "When September Comes" - a rare tragicomedy from the director, notably different from his famous trilogy about the "Elusive Avengers". The film reveals another side of Soviet cinema: bright, filled with warmth and humanity. Each meeting of the film lecture series promises to be rich. The event's host, film critic and cinema expert Roza Ambarian, will discuss the features of cinematic genres, themes, and techniques that define the visual and narrative perception of Moscow on screen. Attendees of the film lecture series will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of old Moscow as presented in the film and discuss how cinema reflects the cultural and social changes of the city over time. Admission to the lecture is free, but prior registration is required. For more reviews of premieres and film critiques, visit our website in the cinema section.
