The "Diaghilev P.S." festival presents a series of short documentary films about the heroes of the "Russian Seasons" - Mikhail Fokine and Vaslav Nijinsky. The "Aurora" cinema will screen three films featuring renowned dance historians and dance critics as speakers. The program will open with the film "Fokine. Ballet. Revolution." The innovative choreographer Mikhail Fokine was invited to the troupe by Diaghilev. His productions of "Scheherazade," "The Firebird," and "Petrushka" marked the beginning of a new ballet era. The film includes excerpts from Fokine's book "Against the Tide," archival materials, performance footage, and interviews. The screening will take place on January 29 at 19:00. The program will continue with the film "Nijinsky. The Path to Freedom." This film is dedicated to the creative rise of Vaslav Nijinsky, the complex relationship between the artist and Diaghilev's troupe, and his personal tragedy. Nijinsky's story is presented through the lens of his diary entries. The screening will take place on January 30 at 19:00. The final film of the festival is "For the Sake of Spring," released for the 110th anniversary of Stravinsky's ballet "The Rite of Spring." The filmmakers tell the story of the ballet's creation and reflect on why interest in it has not waned after a century. The screening will take place on January 31 at 19:00.
