About

The project at the Museum of Moscow raises the topic of the lives of people who remain outside the usual attention for years. The exhibition offers a look at the space of psycho-neurological boarding houses through art and the personal experience of those directly connected to this system. At the center of the project is a closed world that rarely reaches outsiders. Behind high fences and metal bars, the days of people whose lives are governed by a strict schedule pass: from waking up to evening procedures. Identical things and a uniform way of life set the background, yet in every movement, in every glance, a personal story emerges that the artists strive to capture and preserve. The exhibition combines photographs, videos, sculptures, and multimedia objects. The leading line is a creative conversation between photographer Yuri Kozyrev and artist Alexey Sakhnov from the charity organization "Perspectives" art studio, who lives in the boarding house. Their different perspectives - the view "from the inside" and the view "from the outside" - come together to form a holistic perception of the everyday life of PNI. The exhibition is complemented by documentary materials about the fates of the residents, as well as images created using a technique called ambrotype. This is a process where the photograph reveals itself in the glow of light, as if returning to reality. Alongside the exhibition, art mediations and meetings with experts are held: psychologists, lawyers, social workers, art therapists, and people who have faced similar situations personally. The conversation about care, mental health, and the ethics of participation creates a space where one can look anew at the concept of norm and the ability of society to notice those who have long remained in the shadows. The exhibition takes place in building No. 3 of the Museum of Moscow.
