The interactive session will take children and adults back to school physical education of the early 20th century. Participants will learn who the sokols and sokolki are, try ancient exercises with a museum instructor, build a gymnastic figure, and play active games where history immediately becomes movement, teamwork, and excitement. School physical education used to look very different: marching steps, exercises with clubs, synchronized movements in the gymnasium yard, team rhythm, and the excitement of a common cause. The interactive session will help children imagine Yekaterinburg of the early last century through movement, play, and practice, rather than through a dry textbook narrative. Participants will learn how physical education lessons were conducted about 150 years ago, why so much attention was paid to students' health, and who the sokols and sokolki are. The sokol tradition connected gymnastics, discipline, mutual support, and the idea of a strong, focused individual. Where to go in Yekaterinburg is known by KudaGo.
