In the interactive workshop, children will learn how Yekaterinburg became one of the centers of Ural gold mining. They will discover the first placers, the rules for prospectors, and the fate of the nuggets found, try to pan for gold using an old method, and then set off in search of gnome gold and legendary gemstones. The gold rush in the Urals literally began underfoot: precious metal was found in river sands, and it was possible to wash the ore even in urban streams. In the interactive workshop, children will find out why Yekaterinburg is connected to gold mining and how an ordinary citizen could try their hand at being a gold miner. The historical part is built around questions that turn facts into a small investigation. Participants will learn who was called the "Columbus of the gold placers of Russia," what connected Ural prospectors with the heroes of Jack London, and what rules were in place when a nugget was discovered.
