About

Using examples from "Outsource" to "Fisher", film scholar Alisa Mamedova will show how notable projects are structured, which directorial techniques work best, and how to start getting acquainted with the genre. Russian series have become a separate topic for discussion in recent years - they are analyzed after premieres, quoted, debated over endings, and compared to big cinema. The meeting will discuss how this format has come to the current attention of viewers and why lively conversations around new projects arise so quickly. Film scholar Alisa Mamedova will start with the origins of the serial boom but will focus mainly on the modern scene. The focus will be on directors who shape the language of today's Russian series, as well as techniques by which viewers recognize a strong project: working with tension, pace, characters, visual environment, and themes relevant to the time. Among the references are "Outsource" and "Fisher". Entertainment in Moscow is collected on our website.
