About

China can be viewed closer than it seems: in the frames of the finalists of the international photo contest - rice terraces and megacities, street scenes and tea traditions, alongside - "Chinese motifs" in Russian everyday life. Each photo is accompanied by comments from the author - like small stories behind each shot. Sometimes one photograph speaks of a country more than a dozen travel guides. This exhibition features works by finalists and winners of the photo contest, where China is shown from two perspectives: as a distant territory with landscapes, ancient architecture, and the lights of megacities - and as a close neighbor, whose habits and aesthetics have long been woven into Russian everyday life. The authors of the photos sought stories in different parts of the world: from mountain terraces and rivers to urban staircases, bridges, and bustling streets. In the frame - holidays and ordinary days, faces and silhouettes, details of everyday life, graphics of signs, the light of shop windows, and fog over the water. A particular interest is the "Chinese trace" next to us: tea traditions, interior items, design elements, unexpected echoes in urban space. The exhibition will be especially appreciated by those who love to observe the world attentively: photography enthusiasts, travelers, people for whom cultural dialogue and the history of objects matter. The photos are accompanied by comments from the authors - this helps to understand why this particular moment was chosen and what remained outside the frame. The photo contest gathered hundreds of works from Russia, China, and other countries, and the final selection was made by a jury of professional photographers. As a result, an honest, bright, and very diverse chronicle was created - with contrasts, humor, silence, and unexpected coincidences. After viewing, a pleasant feeling remains: distant routes become closer, and familiar things around gain new meaning. The exhibition is timed to the Chinese New Year, so there is a lot of festive energy in the halls - red color, lights, the dynamics of the streets. At the same time, there are frames where the main focus is on the pause: morning fog, calm water, a passerby’s gaze, a craftsman’s hand at work.
