On the eve of the winter holidays, magic of ice will unfold in the heart of the hospitable Northern capital: from December 27 to January 14, the ice sculpture festival "KronshLod" will take place in the Peter and Paul Fortress, organized by the Committee for the Development of Tourism in St. Petersburg. We tell you about this event and where else you can go during the New Year holidays. The "KronshLod" festival is a walk through time. Here you will see ice objects dedicated to the life of the city and the country, outstanding personalities, and historical events, reflecting the spirit of the city and the era. The ice figures, which will be additionally decorated with artistic lighting, will be housed in a special tent that maintains the necessary temperature and humidity for them. For this unusual project, dozens of tons of pure river ice will be used, and participants will include winners of international ice art competitions from Russia and the CIS. For example, in the public space Sevkabel Port, a panoramic ice rink covering about 2200 m² is being flooded - its cooling system will keep the ice even at positive temperatures. In New Holland, there is also an ice rink operating in winter with themed musical programs in the evenings. We recommend visiting another iconic site of the new tourist geography - the museum-historical park "Island of Forts" in Kronstadt. In winter, it is especially beautiful: icy patterns on the water, the silence of the bay, and the illumination of ancient buildings create an atmosphere from old films.
