The festival at the Moscow Museum will open the door to the world of rituals: what role did they play in the lives of our ancestors and why are they important today? Visitors can expect lectures from experts, a book fair, and a children's book club. Rituals are repetitive actions, rules, symbols. Their main role is to make life more predictable and defined, to help a person endure difficult times, and to provide support. Traditions of various holidays, reading before bed, buying books from the same store, watching a favorite series in the evenings - all of these are rituals that have firmly entered our lives. Both days will feature a lecture hall. Authors and friends of MIF will discuss rituals of the past and present. Anthropologist and folklorist Olga Christoforova will address the topic of initiations and unnoticed rituals of today. Psychologists Anna Dukhareva, Ekaterina Latushkina, and Vera Yakupova will discuss how rituals help find inner support. Philologist Elena Samodelova will talk about the rites of a Russian wedding. The program will also include discussions about cinematic rituals of everyday life and what habits help writers find inspiration, lectures on the holiday of Ivan Kupala and hair ornaments popular in Victorian England. Additionally, there will be a two-day book fair featuring new releases and bestsellers. Here, everyone can choose summer reading to their liking: novels, fantasy and comics, books on culture, psychology, business, and mythology, and children's literature. Moreover, on July 4 at 15:00, young guests are invited to a children's book club featuring the book "The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown, and on July 5 at 16:00, there will be a master class by Maria Zvonareva titled "Collage on Feelings."
