This summer, the 300th Anniversary Park of Saint Petersburg will host a vibrant sand sculpture festival. Talented masters from all over the country will present impressive works dedicated to the Northern capital - its history, culture, residents, and achievements. The grand exhibition will be located on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, and entry will be free for everyone. The Sand Sculpture City Festival has been held since 2024. This year, it will again take place in the picturesque 300th Anniversary Park of Saint Petersburg. Visitors will not only be able to admire the sandy masterpieces and take photos but also vote for the best work, in their opinion. The fragile material transforms into detailed figures of great people, architectural monuments, ships, and recognizable images of city dwellers. Each work is a unique story embodied in sandy forms. For each sculpture, the masters use special quarry sand, distinguished by high density and plasticity. Before starting work, it is compacted layer by layer to form a base. Then, step by step, the sculptors carve details, creating true works of art from what seems to be a simple material. The realization of one composition takes from several hours to several days - depending on its scale and complexity. Often, the work is finished with a fine brush or even an ordinary toothpick, carving the smallest features of faces and decorative elements. Despite the temporary nature of sand sculptures, they impress with their expressiveness and are often comparable to stone objects. Last year, masters from Arkhangelsk, Izhevsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, and other cities participated in the festival.
