The retrospective of African cinema at 'Illuzion' is a three-day immersion into rare masterpieces from Egypt and Senegal, digitized and restored for modern viewers. The unique retrospective will take place at the 'Illuzion' cinema as part of the III International Festival "Days of African Culture and Cinema 'Africa. Together into the Future'". Rare and previously inaccessible African films will be shown on the big screen - genuine gems from the 1950s and 1960s. The program will open with the drama by Youssef Chahine 'Struggle in the Valley'. This is a social conflict exacerbated by the struggle for harvest and justice, with noticeable influence from Italian neorealism. The second film in the screening is the tense thriller by Kamal El-Sheikh 'Life or Death', where an ordinary story of a pharmaceutical error turns into a real race against time. The final screening is the psychological drama 'Black Girl...' by Ousmane Sembène. This concise yet incredibly powerful film emotionally reveals the tragedy of a Senegalese girl who finds herself in social and cultural isolation.
