About

The festival marks two important dates: the 85th anniversary of the birth of Sergey Dovlatov and the 10th anniversary of the project itself. The program includes over 70 events about the unofficial culture of the 1970s, literature, music, art, and everyday life in the two capitals. This year, the "Day D" festival is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Sergey Dovlatov's birth and simultaneously celebrates its own 10th anniversary. The main theme will be the unofficial culture of the 1970s - a time when independent artistic and literary communities were forming in Leningrad and Moscow, a unique music scene emerged, and its own rules of cultural life were established. The program features over 70 events, including lectures and discussions with historians, writers, and researchers, theatrical premieres, excursions, performances, jazz concerts, quests, and the traditional parade of fox terriers: a homage to Dovlatov's beloved dog, Glasha. A separate block is dedicated to comparing the cultural environments of Leningrad and Moscow. Photo provided by the organizer Guests will learn how literature existed outside official publishing houses, how music that was not released by "Melodiya" was distributed, where artists and poets met, how the unofficial economy worked, and why trips from Moscow to Leningrad became an important part of youth life. The main program events will take place in "New Holland". Program on August 29 12:00-20:00, "Community", lounge Rare books, samizdat, and tamizdat will be available at the venue.
