Saint Petersburg is one of the world capitals of light design. This autumn, the grand show "Wonder of Light" will once again take place here, having become one of the symbols of the city on the Neva. The "Wonder of Light" festival has been organized by the Committee for the Development of Tourism in Petersburg since 2016 and has long become a bright tradition here. The light show, created by digital artists, unfolds right on the facades of historical buildings in the city center. Thanks to modern lighting and laser technologies, including 3D mapping, architectural monuments are transformed beyond recognition and come to life, telling stories about the past and present of the Northern capital. History of the festival In 2018, the festival received the status of a "National Event 2018", entering the top 200 performances from all over Russia. In 2019, it won the Grand Prix of the national award Russian Event Awards in the field of event tourism as the best tourist event dedicated to the Year of Theater. In 2021, the "Book of Records of Russia" recorded the longest total length of the light projection on the wall of the Peter and Paul Fortress - 1244 meters. The source of inspiration for the 2023 show was the history, modern achievements of the city, and future ambitious projects. Spectators will find themselves at the epicenter of events that will unfold right on historical facades: colorful images will be created using 3D mapping, lighting, and laser technologies. The plot of the show is dedicated to the history and achievements of Saint Petersburg in the context of the country's history. Combined with musical accompaniment, this is a true spectacle, where buildings are astonishingly transformed, illuminated in all colors, transporting viewers through time and space.
