About

The route around Sennaya Square turns the novel "Crime and Punishment" into an urban investigation. The houses, bridges, and addresses of Dostoevsky become clues: where the characters passed, how the area influenced their decisions, and why the fate of the old usurer seems almost predetermined. Sennaya Square at Dostoevsky's is a cramped, noisy, and tense place. Here, the city seems to compress around a person: bridges lead over canals, houses loom over streets, courtyards hide foreign secrets, and an ordinary route can easily begin to resemble an investigation. During the walk, participants will see this part of St. Petersburg through the novel "Crime and Punishment" and real addresses connected to the life of Fyodor Mikhailovich. Guide Evgenia Kolodyazhnaya will lead through the surroundings of Sennaya and draw attention to the topographical heroes of the novel - buildings, bridges, intersections, and the distances between them. In this optic, the city ceases to be a backdrop. It presses, directs, confuses, and forces the hero to return again and again to one internal knot. Gathering of participants and start of the tour - at Sennaya Square, 13 (at entrance No. 3 to the "Sadovaya" station). Register on Timepad. Where to go in St. Petersburg today, find on our website.
