About

The servant of the northernmost Buddhist temple will introduce the visitors to the rich history of the shrine, interesting details of its construction, and the peculiarities of its use in different eras, as well as the canons of Tibetan architecture. The Petersburg datsan was built during the time of the Russian Empire. The best architects of that time worked on its creation, artistic details were conceived by Nikolai Roerich, the statue of Buddha was presented by the King of Siam, and the luxurious facade made it one of the most expensive Buddhist temples in Europe. However, the shrine is distinguished not only by its impressive appearance but also by its complex fate. During the excursion, participants will view the main hall of the datsan and, together with the temple servant, dive into the centuries-old history of the cult structure. Visitors will also learn about the cultural features and traditions of Buddhism. The duration of the excursion program is 30 minutes. The excursion is designed for a group of up to 40 people.
