About

The walk is dedicated to the unofficial culture of Leningrad in the 1970s and 1980s - a time of rock clubs, apartment concerts, underground record trading, and the emergence of the first urban subcultures. The route will help you see the city through the eyes of people for whom music and freedom were part of everyday life. During the tour, participants will recall the slang of Leningrad's informal youth, learn where hippies, rockers, and punks gathered, how underground music spots operated, and why some places became cult for an entire generation. The discussion will cover the rock club, "Saigon," "Pushkinskaya-10," the legendary "Mirrors," and other spaces associated with the Leningrad music scene. Special attention will be paid to denim fashion, samizdat, "bone" records, currency dealers, and the ways of existence of the informal environment in Soviet reality. The tour will be conducted by Dmitry Cherepanov, a direct participant in those events - a person who has been a stilyaga, punk, and rocker, who was expelled from the institute and Komsomol for his lifestyle and views. Participants will be provided with radio guides and individual headphones.  Meeting point - "Nevsky Prospekt" metro station (exit to the Griboedov Canal). Registration can be done on the website of the Lev Lurie Culture House. What to see in St. Petersburg will be suggested by KUDAGO.
