Participants will see how Moscow grew from artisan neighborhoods to large industrial centers, examine product samples, and learn how production changed the everyday life and appearance of the city. The thematic tour of the exhibition "History of Moscow" helps to view the city as a place of labor, trade, engineering ideas, and great production ambitions - from skilled neighborhoods and the first manufactories to factories, plants, and industrial clusters. Participants will trace how business Moscow developed and why, as early as the 19th century, the city became an important center for textile production. By the early 20th century, Moscow's textile workers held a significant share in several industries, and local factories produced fabrics used by a considerable part of the country. During the tour, early samples of factory products, exhibition albums, catalogs with fabric swatches, tool samples, and other items will be on display, making the history of production almost tangible. A separate narrative thread is related to Moscow's teas, confectionery products, and food culture: the city fed more than one region and exported products to foreign markets.
