On October 16, the A. S. Griboedov Library will host a lecture "Buster Keaton: Forgotten Films," dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of one of the most significant artists and directors of the silent film era. Buster Keaton is remembered as the "man with the stone face," whose eccentric comedies defined the slapstick genre. His "The General" and "The Navigator" have long become classics, but the lesser-known films that showcase the master’s unique directorial tone are equally interesting. The lecture will focus on these films. The meeting's author, historian and bibliographer Targis Claren, will offer a new perspective on Keaton's work, showing how even beyond the recognized masterpieces, he was able to find artistic solutions that still feel fresh and modern today. This meeting will be an opportunity to rediscover Keaton - to see in his "forgotten" films not just amusing tricks, but a complex play with form and time that has made his figure eternal in world cinema.
