One of the most popular works by Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato accompanied by a live orchestra. Created in 1999 and first shown in the composer J.S. Bach's hometown of Weimar, this performance is considered one of the most successful works of the famous contemporary choreographer. The premiere of the production took place in Weimar, the composer's hometown, which is very symbolic, as the main character of the ballet is the composer himself. The performing actor creates his music right before the audience's eyes, conducts it, lives and dies in it. Around him swirl "notes", "musical instruments", "love", and "death". All these concepts are embodied by the dancers. It turns out that the composer is kind of creating the canvas of the performance, living his life and swirling in a dance with death, which ultimately prevails. As a result, the audience receives a unique choreographic canvas filled with interesting metaphors, complex dance movements, and plastic techniques. At the Mikhailovsky, it was decided that the orchestra in such a ballet should play live, rather than recorded as in Europe, because this way the music feels "more alive" and closer to the audience.
