About

An original yet largely authentic production by Vladimir Burmeister, which has become the calling card of the K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre. It is hard to find a ballet company in the world that has not performed the famous work of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky based on the canonical libretto by Vladimir Begichev and Vasily Geltser, inspired by the plot of an ancient German legend about an enchanted girl. Since the first production, nearly one and a half centuries have passed, and since then the story of the tragic love between Prince Siegfried and the enchanted Odette, bewitched by Rothbart, has been interpreted by choreographers from various schools. Vladimir Burmeister's version, staged at the Moscow Musical Theatre named after K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, along with the plastic interpretation of the great Rudolf Nureyev, is considered one of the most radical productions of the legendary ballet. Nevertheless, it is in this version that the dance of the little swans appears in the most authentic form, and additionally, Burmeister's script includes the full version of the second act, which is often shortened or completely omitted by many other directors. The duration of the ballet with two intermissions is 3 hours. For more performances, visit our website in the theatre section.
