A performance with original choreography by Mikhail Venshchikov - a new interpretation of the famous plot, unlike any of the previous ones. The premiere of the production from the St. Petersburg Art Center "Saint Michel" took place in Brussels, and then the performance was shown in Munich. In St. Petersburg, the stage of one of the most beautiful theaters in the city - the Hermitage - was chosen for "Carmen." In working on "Carmen," choreographer Mikhail Venshchikov sought to move away from the conventional perception of the characters in this story. Here, Jose is portrayed as a man torn between passion and duty, the Toreador transforms from a cold beauty into a lonely man who sees the bull as his only friend and brother in battle. Carmen, on the other hand, is fatally afraid of loneliness and cannot cope with this fear. The lead role is played by one of the brightest ballerinas of the new generation, Oksana Bondareva. The musical accompaniment of the two-act performance features music by Georges Bizet from the eponymous opera and other works by the composer. The production design includes multimedia projections that convey the atmosphere of ancient Spain. Photo: provided by the organizer.
