About

A costumed lecture-presentation in Turinsk will turn into a full immersion into the era of the Decembrists. Uniforms, dances, live music, and historical etiquette-all of this will come together in one day to revive the first half of the 19th century with its splendor, strict manners, and special sense of honor. An unusual event will take place at the Turinsk House-Museum of Decembrist V. P. Ivashov-a costumed presentation of an exhibition dedicated to military and civilian uniforms of the Decembrist era. This is not just a demonstration of historical reconstructions, but a living encounter with the past, rich in knowledge, aesthetics, and the sounds of classical music. At the heart of the event is a new exhibition "There Is No Greater Honor Than Wearing a Russian Uniform," prepared for the 200th anniversary of the Decembrist uprising. Guests will be presented with reconstructions of uniforms from the first half of the 19th century, gathered in one space along with corresponding accessories and museum attributes. Every detail is selected with historical accuracy, and the overall design will become part of a collective artistic statement. The presentation will be accompanied by a deconstruction lecture on the subtleties of historical costume, differences between military and civilian uniforms, features of cuts, fabrics, and decorative elements. The host of the meeting-Katya Makarova, designer-reconstructor and founder of the studio "Katya and All Her Dresses"-will tell the history through fashion, emphasizing the social role and visual culture of uniforms. Guests will be invited to try on the role of a 19th-century socialite: there will be mini-masterclasses on the dances of that time and the basics of ball etiquette. Accompanied by live academic music, participants will find themselves in the atmosphere of grand halls where polonaises were played and conversations about honor and dignity took place. This evening will become a meeting point between the past and the present, aesthetics and meaning. Find other events in Yekaterinburg on KudaGo.
