The best Brazilian films of 2025 will be showcased again in St. Petersburg. Audiences can expect a rich program and the first film from Brazil to win an Oscar. For four days, the Rodina Cinema Center will screen new works by Brazilian directors. This festival is one of the best ways to get acquainted with the culture of one of the largest and most unique countries in South America. Art, everyday life, societal issues and achievements, tragedies, and amazing adventures of ordinary people - all of this is told by Brazilian cinema, which is diverse and multifaceted. A highlight will be the screening of the documentary "Bituka," which tells about the farewell tour of Brazilian pop star Milton Nascimento. Director Flávia Moraes explores the incredible energy embedded in the musician's work, whose roots should be sought in the heart of Brazil. Another documentary, "Mangueira in Two Beats," is dedicated to Brazil's dance symbol - samba. The film, connecting the past and the future, tells the stories of children filmed 30 years ago in the film "Mangueira of Tomorrow," about life in favelas and the strength of spirit. The plot of the feature film "Portrait of an Unknown East," directed by Marcelo Gomes, unfolds in the Amazon rainforest, and its characters are Lebanese. During a journey through the tropics, a Catholic from Lebanon named Emily falls in love with a Muslim named Omar, while her brother tries to separate them by exploiting their religious differences. The film "Aunt Virginia," which won the prestigious Gramado Film Festival, tells the story of Virginia, an unmarried and childless woman who, at the request of her sisters, took on the care of their elderly parents.
