This weekend, the grand Moscow Marathon will take place in the capital - one of the largest races in Russia. For anyone who runs long distances, this is an opportunity to challenge themselves by running through the center of the capital alongside athletes from different countries and to enjoy the atmosphere of a sports festival. Around 50,000 runners from 65 countries will participate in the 12th Moscow Marathon. The races will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The program will also include a three-day Sports Exhibition. On Saturday, September 20, there will be a 10-kilometer race and a Children's race, and the next day - a marathon distance race, corporate and student relays. This year, the race routes have changed. Athletes will start at Luzhnetskaya Embankment and finish on Luzhniki Street. The running course, as before, passes through the central streets of Moscow with views of the landmarks, but now they will be revealed from a new angle. The new routes are certified and meet international standards, allowing for the ratification of national records. The prize fund of the marathon has expanded and this year amounts to 10,740,000 rubles. About a hundred professional athletes from different countries will compete for the prize places in both distances. Awards will be given not only to professionals - commemorative medals will be awarded to all finishers. Spectators will be able to cheer for the participants in the start-finish town and at special support points, which will be more than 100 along both routes. All points will be marked on the fan map, available on the official race website. Details about the 10-kilometer race and the marathon distance can be found on the official website.
