Composer, pianist, vocalist, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary artist Samora Pinderhughes is known for his striking intimacy and carefully crafted, radically honest lyrics alongside high-level musicianship. He is a collaborator with an eye for the bigger picture and has worked with the likes of Robert Glasper, Karriem Riggins and Common under the August Greene moniker, as well as Burniss Travis, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah and his flautist sister Elena Pinderhughes. He uses his music to examine sociopolitical issues and fight for change, working in the tradition of the black surrealists across the African Diaspora, those who bend word, sound, and image towards these causes.
